Blueberries may be the real key to lower blood pressure and to good health as well.
Recent studies by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics have shown that postmenopausal women with high blood pressure, and have added blueberry smoothie into their diet daily, experienced a 5% decrease in systolic blood pressure and 6% decrease in diastolic blood pressure.
There’s also a 69% decrease in the blood levels of nitric oxide, which helps in increasing the blood flow through the widening of blood vessels.
What’s the reason behind the decrease?
The researchers attributed this decrease to the potent flavonoid antioxidant, such as anthocyanins, which is relevant to the production of nitric oxide and reduces inflammation.
- 1/2 cup of fresh or frozen blueberries
- 1 Banana
- 8 oz to 81/2 oz of Hemp Milk
- 1 tablespoon of Almond Butter
1. Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.
2. You may add additional milk and blend again if the smoothie is too thick.
You can try this smoothie first thing in the morning and then see if it will lower your blood pressure. But do not discontinue any medication prescribed by your doctor. Consult with your doctor before discontinuing any medication.
